The Empire was the second fully instrumental album I composed using FL Studio during my time in Germany right after Y album. This chill album, along with Y contains lots of experimental chill beats as I was experimenting on music composing myself during the time I was not focusing on Dark Cherry, my rock band project. The main elements I had during the construction of this album are chill, beats, dance and oriental. Definitely a chaotic mix.
I had my first sad chill beats ‘Sad Day‘, I added many experimental chill beats such as ‘Improvised Butterfly Tattoo‘ but I even composed a couple of dance/electro chill beats like ‘Maybe ‘no’ for STORM‘ and ‘Disorder in Rest-Around‘. And when I finally believed, this is just enough for one album – I added ‘Lazy Japanese Cats’… a song so happy and chill. In short I learnt later these songs usually deserve different albums and EPs. Still probably this chaotic setup, probably the fact that I was more sure in myself compare to Y, probably because it has a Myspace open as well in paralel, I love this album. Even after 10+ years I am considering making a remix of these songs and listen to those moods they tell me. I was inspired by Japan greatly, but resided in Germany. I wished to compose beats to show people certain moods – chill, ambient, dance – even industrial.
